Campus Opening Update – May 22, 2020
Campus Re-Opening for Worship Services Weekend of June 6-7
We are excited to announce that the Bethlehem Knightdale campus will re-open for worship services starting the weekend of June 6-7. We know that there are many questions about what our worship gatherings will look like as we get started. To help answer those questions, we’ve created a resource along with the frequently asked questions noted below. Whether you join us in-person or continue to worship at-home via our live streams, we look forward to worshipping with you!
When Will In-Person Worship Services Begin?
We will host in-person worship services starting the weekend of June 6-7, 2020. Our first service will be Saturday, June 6 at 5 p.m. We will also host two other services on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
What Measures Will Be Implemented to Reduce the Health Risks of Gathering In Person?
In our first Phase of reopening, we will begin on campus worship services only. We will not have small groups/Sunday School or other activities until later. To help with social distancing, we will have three worship services held at different times in three different locations on campus. We are blessed to have space to do this so we don’t have to worry about adequately sanitizing an area for reuse in such a short period of time. The cleaning company we contract with will make sure these areas are cleaned and sanitized before the next week’s services. They will also provide us with hand sanitizer at strategic locations in the building. Based on the recommendations we are receiving through the Baptist State Convention and other sources, we will not be using bulletins, offering plates or hymnals in order to reduce hand to hand contact. Also, the services will be a little shorter than normal as we will not be singing as many congregational songs or having our usual offertory time.
Seating in all services will be arranged to provide for social distancing, and we encourage you to practice social distancing in the parking lot as well as inside. We are a loving and friendly church but we ask everyone to show their love in this season by refraining from hugs or handshakes. While not required, wearing face masks is highly encouraged. Even if you don’t believe they’re necessary, please consider the safety and peace of mind of others attending worship with you.
Why Are We Conducting Three Worship Services Each Weekend?
We will host three services so we can stay within the guidelines for social distancing and occupancy. Each of the three services will be held in a different location on our campus. We are blessed to have these spaces available to accommodate our needs!
What If I Don't Feel Comfortable Attending Worship Services In-Person?
That’s perfectly alright. We don’t want anyone to feel guilty or pressured about attending or not attending. If you are in a high risk group, or just feel uneasy about public gatherings at the present, we want you to be assured we love you and fully understand your need to wait a while before you come back. We will continue to live stream our services on YouTube, Facebook and our website and you are welcome to join us live at 8:30 on Sunday mornings! Yet, we also know many are ready to get back and willing to make these adjustments to help us provide the opportunity. We do ask, however, if you feel sick, have been sick recently or had fever, or if you been exposed to someone with the corona virus recently, please do not attend until after the 14 day self-quarantine period.
Will Restrooms Be Available?
Our services will be a bit shorter so we hope that will help us not have as much need for restrooms. However, we know restrooms are still needed. We will post a reduced maximum occupancy for restrooms on the outside of the door. As best possible, please wait outside until you can determine you are not exceeding the maximum limit. Obviously exceptions to this would be things like a parent or guardian needing to accompany a child or someone else needing assistance.
How Can I Give My Offering?
You are welcome to continue using our online giving option or dropping off your offering at the church office. However, we will not be passing offering plates during our on-campus worship services for the foreseeable future, but we will have clearly marked offering boxes available for you to drop off your offering at church if you prefer.
How Can I Share a Prayer Concern?
You are welcome to share prayer needs with our pastoral team via email at [email protected]
